Getting out of the rut: How to stay clean and pure - psalm 119:9-11

There comes a time when each of us must look deeply at how we have been living our lives. Are we neglecting and abusing our bodies? Are we treating others harshly? There is a famous saying that says,"Our attitude will determine our altitude." This brings us to our scripture passage today from Psalm 119. The words,"his way" in Hebrew - pronounced - Orach, signifies a track, a rut, such as would have been made with the wheel of a cart. This is a great description in that it shows that trying to live life on our own and apart from God we only end up digging deeper into a rut.

The bible says in Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This rut may not be a broad path, but rather doing the same "wrong thing," again and again in the same manner, creating a sinful rut. How can a person escape? By living according to God's word. Living according to God's word will lead to a godly lifestyle. Ignoring the word of God leads to a godless rut. You must heed God's word (v.9) And hide God's word in your heart (v.11) Many people today are struggling with addictions and afflictions of all kinds and looking for answers everywhere but in God's word. The way out of the rut is through God's word. LIVE ACCORDING TO IT!
