Just Got Out a Dual Diagnosis Heroin Rehab

This is what my discharge paper says: Dual diagnosis heroin rehabilitation. An individual suffering from co-occurring heroin addiction and mental health issues require specialized, integrated care from both addiction treatment and professionals.

So there you have it. My life these past 3 months. I just got out of an in-house treatment center and I want to stay out. Hope you guys can help out with that. I don't have many friends left anymore. My family has given up on me. Don't know where else to turn.

It started with marijuana. Next thing I know, I'm freebasing like John Baluchi. At least I never shot up. No, I did that once.

Well, that's my story. Don't really know what I'm hoping for from you guys.. I really want to get on with my life. I was in college, had a great girlfriend, was really ready to do something with my life. Screw my family history. I was going to do something.

    So here I am.

Jas you're not alone!!!! I lost soooo much, and then when I thought it couldnt get worse I would relapse and it got worse beyond my wildest dreams!!!!!

So now, for you, it can only get better!!!! Yea!!!!!

I know it's hard not to wanna like live in rehab forever, one time I went to the Cure at Passages in Malibu I'm telling you I could live happily ever after at that million dollar place!!! LOL!!!!

So you're back at life, and realistically you gotta be at some point. Friends are like SUPER IMPORTANT!!!! Can you find any sober friends either in recovery or other types of groups like church, sports, etc?? Look at who you are and who you WANT to be! You dont have the ball and chain around your ankle anymore here, you are FREE now and you can live your life!! GO LIVE IT!!!! Keep sobriety however, and your recovery, in the front.

Remember that your recovery is part of your spiritual life path, you gotta focus on it first or the rest of it will crumble. Stay sober, and you can do or be whatever you wanna do or be! I PROMISE!!!!

And you have fellow addicts/alcoholics in recovery here like me who care! Hugs!!!! You're doing great!!!! Prayers for you!!!

    Thanks Babydoll

Sounds like so many people I know...

Gotta tell you what happened to me this morning. I was in a car accident. My friend was driving safe enough but some fool ran into us anyway. Says he didnt see us.

My friend, the driver didnt get hurt but her kid is still in hospital. Kids 3, so my friend is real worried about her. I feel rotten since she was carting me around running errands and stuff.

Well, I got hurt too. I guess I broke me arm in 2 places. Funny thing is, the doc tried to give me hydrocodone... can you freakin' believe it?! Man, I just got out of rehab and a doc is offerring THAT to me. It took all I could get up to not take it. That doc he ouught to have his head examined. I told the dude my history right away, but he says he forgot.

Uhuh, wonder if he's out to get rid of all the Gamots out there. Why not just give somebody a hot load? Geez.

Wow, you gotta watch them docs!

Who knows, maybe he was pulling one of them "all-nighters" and [cough, cough] got confused?!? Or was HE zonked? lol

Scary, really. Just goes to show, that everybody ought to watch out for themselves when it comes to important things, like health care...

    Right?

mcd, if zonked means intoxicated.... you may have something there, lol!

I've worked rounds in hospitals where residents are self-abusing with alcohol or making too many trips to the meds cupboard, you might say.

Doctors - medical personnel, are human. I saw the devastating results of other physicians choosing by omission or ignorance, to ignore a coworker's drug addiction, with my own husband. He was a physician, very popular with the patients and associates alike. It was his downfall. Nobody chose to confront him when he was too drunk or loaded to perform surgery. There were rumors, but when I'd out he's actually put patients' lives in danger, it was all over.

Oh, the pain! I hate looking back at those days...

    Shake it off!

No, it's best to be your own advocate when it comes to something like health care. In order to be a decent advocate, however, one must not be under the influence of ANYTHING that might cloud their perception.

So... get clean. Whatever it takes.

    It's possible.

With the right kind of support - all around us - physically, spiritually, emotionally, and yes, even through the internet.
Welcome. Please know this is a safe place. Feel free to share.
