    The Daniel Plan - June 9, 2016

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

The reason we treat people with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience is because of who we are: chosen, holy, and dearly loved.

Healthy relationships grow out of a secure sense of our identity. If we are convinced that we are dearly loved, then that love spills over to other people.

If we are conscious of having been chosen, then our ego takes a back seat to humility and putting others' interests ahead of our own.

Our deepest needs for acceptance and significance have been met in God, so we can focus on compassion and kindness to others. And if we know we're holy, set apart for God's service, then patience toward others is the supernatural result.

Think of it: you are chosen, wanted, part of God's family. You are holy. You are dearly loved. Let it sink in. How will that affect your relationships today?

You can have healthy relationships because you are securely and permanently chosen, holy, and dearly loved.
