    The Daniel Plan - June 19, 2016

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Matthew 14:29-30

Peter overcame his fear enough to ask Jesus to tell him to walk on the water, too.

When Jesus said, "Come," Peter actually had the courage to obey him and climb out of the boat.

He walked for a while and then got distracted. That's when his fear took over again.

It's easy to blame Peter for becoming afraid, but think of how brave he was just to get out of the boat at all!

His positive steps are worth celebrating.

In the same way, it may be easy for you to blame yourself when you have gotten sidetracked from your goals and lost sight of Jesus.

Instead of blaming yourself for those moments, focus on all the positive steps of faith you have made, and celebrate the small victories.

Have you gotten out of the boat? Great!

Have you gotten distracted and afraid? No problem--Jesus will help you get back on course.

When you walk on water, even for only a moment, celebrate that step of faith.
