    The Daniel Plan - June 30, 2016


    I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. Philippians 4:11-12

    The apostle Paul sat in prison, chained to a guard, waiting for possible execution, but he didn't let his circumstances sap his courage.

    In fact, he told his friends in Philippi, he had learned the secret of contentment. That secret was a rock-solid certainty that his life was worth living if he could be of use to God, and that was far more important than being comfortable.

    None of us wants to be hungry or without basic necessities, and we can rightly pray for relief.

    Yet we can, like Paul, also find contentment with whatever our circumstances are.

    Contentment comes from passionate commitment to God's higher purposes.


    Contentment is a great blessing, because it makes joy and peace possible regardless of circumstances.
