Important Information...
I just came across a fascinating QUIZ for adult children of alcoholics. See link. The quiz was very short be very definitive in its questions.
Below is the results of my own taking of the quiz. Go take it and come back to let us know your results. We'd love to discuss this topic further...
RESULTS:
Congratulations, you survived! The conditions in which you grew up may have been emotionally overwhelming, but you made it. If the answers to the quiz questions are an indication, very few people could have gone through your experiences without being affected in some way.
You may have been affected in ways that you do not even realize; our quiz touched on only a few of the characteristics common to many adult children of alcoholics. You may want to learn all you can about those traits and speak to a professional counselor or therapist about your personal ordeal.

My results:
No, you are not responsible for his actions or decisions, but according to the answers you provided on this quiz, many things that you are doing to try to help the situation may be enabling him to avoid the full consequences of his actions and therefore delay a decision to get help.
Don't worry, you are not alone. Many of those who love an alcoholic have, with good intentions, tried to help, but inadvertently enabled instead. Sometimes the very things we think are helping are actually making it easier for alcoholics to avoid or delay their decision to reach out for help with their problem. Please read the articles linked below to learn more about enabling and how it can delay the alcoholic's recovery.Welcome. Please know this is a safe place. Feel free to share.
