    The Daniel Plan - July 20, 2016

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 1 Corinthians 9:24-25

The apostle Paul encourages us to train hard to win the gold medal of God's eternal blessing.

In an ordinary race, he says, only one person wins. Everyone is competing against everyone else.

In the Christian life, though, because we are all on the same team, we run alongside each other. We complement others' strides, while they complement ours.

There's a proverb from Zambia that says, "When you run alone, you run fast. When you run together, you run far."

If you're trying to build healthy habits for a lifetime, you're running a marathon, so you need your brothers and sisters spurring you on. There will be moments when you stumble, and at those times your fellow runners will help you regain your balance and renew your strength to persevere to win the prize.

Who are the people who are in the race with you, the ones who care whether you keep going or quit? Check in with one of them today.

When you run together, you run far, finishing the race and rejoicing together.
