    The Daniel Plan - August 4, 2016

Perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 1 John 4:18

Fear and love don't get along well.

If we are afraid of someone, it's hard to love him or her. That's true in our relationship with God, and it's true in our relationships with other people.

If we're afraid of being hurt or used, we shy away from getting close to people. God wants to help us move into relationships fearlessly. He wants to help us gradually become so secure in his love that we can deal with another person's flaws.

We need to let people get close. We need to let them know the real us, the best and the worst, so that they can support us.
If we fear rejection, we can pause before we go into an interaction and ask God for help.

We can say, "God, please give me the courage to take a step toward this person." That's a prayer he's eager to answer.

When we're confident of God's perfect love, we can move into relationships fearlessly.
